Forget The Scale - It's Been A Great Week

I gained a half a pound this week, and I know how it happened. Have you ever bought a candy bar and after the first bite thought "Thats not what I wanted," then finished it anyway because it cost $.75. Dang you Easter candy and curse you John Cadbury.

Even with this set back let me share some ups from this last week...

I ran 1 mile this week not once but twice without stopping. It was on the treadmill paced at a 12 minute mile. I know some of you could run nearly 2 miles in that time, but I haven't ran that distance without stopping in almost 15 years. 5k run, here I come.

While attending the temple with my wife, I fit into a pair of pants that my wife bought for me around the time we got married 9 1/2 years ago. I haven't been able to wear those pants in nearly 6 years, but I have left them in the temple bag with hopes that I may fit into them again some day.

I noticed at work on Monday that my extra chin was nearly gone. I went to pull on it and it wasn't there.

I have had to wear my wedding ring on my pinkie finger because it hurt to wear it on my ring finger which was too fat. This week I wore it on my ring finger every single minute.

I don't want to be that "Fat Dad," that is clumsy, slow, and out of breath. I don't want my boys to be teased about my size, I don't want them to be ashamed of me. I am grateful for an inexperienced doctor that was more blunt than my normal doctor had been, scaring me into a change.
