:(

Well here I am again and I don't have any excuses this week except being LAZY!!! I am reporting a +1. I know that I have issues with having a new baby but there really isn't any excuse for my eating habits but the fact that my head isn't with it for the last few weeks. So this week I am recommitting myself to be an active member of Club Zero. So I will need all the help I can get. I am going to make a challenge to everyone today to post their favorite Club Zero approved recipe. I really need some help because before I was the salsa and tomato queen and that helped me loose a ton of weight but alas that can not be the case because my little cutie doesn't like tomatoes or broccoli. So I am off to find something else I can snack on to help me get back into the negative numbers. I have to snack (it is a curse) so I just need to find something good to snack on and make my meals count. I am also going to be really good with water and see if that helps. So I am here to plead with all of you to HELP ME!!!! I really need some encouragement and I know that is what we are all about.

Workout Wednesday/Challenge Thursday

Sorry I dropped the ball Club Zero. Apparently if my kids don't go to school on Monday than it isn't actually Monday, it is a non-day and Tuesday becomes Monday, in which case, today is actually Wednesday. I don't know why one stinkin holiday can throw off my week so much, but it did, and I missed it, so today, you get two things, a workout, and a challenge. DO THEM!!

Tip #28

Smart TV time

The Bureau of Labor Statistics' 2003 American Time Use Survey found that the average American spends 2.57 hours per day watching televison. Even more remarkable is the fact that 79 percent of Americans reported watching TV as a "primary activity on any given day"-second only to eating and sleeping. To top it off, national statistics show that 68 percent of us fail to get enough physical activity.
Today I recommend that you exercise while you watch TV - even if it's only for ten minutes! If your're embarrassed or need more space, send your spouse or children to another room. Do whatever you need to do. You'll burn calories, get your heart pumping, and, even better, you'll learn how easy it is to add physical activity into an already busy day.
Here are some activities that work well for TV time:
-march in place at a quick, steady pace
-jog in place
-jump rope
-do jumping jacks
-do knee lifts (raise your hands over your head, then lift you knee to about belly button height and bring your hands down and tap the knee that is lifted.)

and here is your Challenge...

Tip #251

Butter-less

Don't add butter or margarine to any foods today. Skip the butter on cooked or steamed veggies, mashed potatoes, toast and bread, and other main dishes or side items. Instead of laying on a thick coat of butter, use a small amount of Mrs. Dash for vegetables, and use jam for breads or eat them plain.
You'll save about 100 calories and 8 grams of fat per serving when you cut the butter from these commonly buttered up foods. That's significant-and a definite plus for your health.

Good luck Club Zero, let's hear how it goes.

CHALLENGE THURSDAY

Tip #207

Chew Chew Chew

Take time to chew your food thoroughly and slowly today. When you eat more slowly you actually feel more full faster-while eating less food-which means you eat fewer calories without suffering pangs of hunger. But don't take this overboard and chew your food for hours on end. I'm talking about eating a decent meal in twenty minutes instead of two.
Because eating is so habitual for us, it's easy to read this tip and forget about it five minutes later. I know this because I do it often; I always remember after the meal: "Aghh, I wanted to eat that slowly. Oops." Put something on your wrist or a ring on a different finger to help you remember your goal of the day: eat slowly! To help you follow through with this, try:

-Engaging in conversation while you eat (be attentive)
-Drinking water between every few bites.
-Cutting yur food into smaller bites or taking smaller bites
-Going back and forth between food items (a bite of salad, then a bite of meat, etc.).

CHALLENGE THURSDAY

Tip #69

Water: Your companion for the day

Keep a water bottle with you at all times today. Take it with you in the car, to the office, to the kids' soccer game-everywhere.

Your body needs water to transport nutrients, remove waste and metabolic by-products, control your body temperature, protect your vital organs, and support your blood volume and circulation. Drinking water helps with weight loss as well. Your health suffers when you are dehydrated.

I'm a busy mom, and even though I know how desperately my body needs water, I sometimes get caught up in busy day-to-day life and forget to drink water. But the days I tote around a twelve-to twenty-ounce water bottle, I stay on top of my water needs with very little effort.

You can drink too much, so don't go too overboard with this. Most women need about 90 ounces per day and most men need about 125 ounces per day. You'll get about 20 percent of that need through solid food. And keep in mind that high temperatures, humidity, and exercise can increase your water needs.

-A small note from Cookie, good luck with this, let's hear from you when this is accomplished, how did it go?? Is it a change you can live with??

Challenge Thursdays!!!

I was shopping yesterday and ran across the greatest treasure. I think it is wonderful. It is full of small simple changes that we can really make in our lives.

Best of all, it was on the winter clearance table for $1.99. If you are anywhere near a Deseret Book and are interested, that is where I found it. It is also the inspiration for my new idea....Challenge Thursdays. Every Thursday there will be a challenge. You are only allowed to comment on the challenge when you have completed it. That way you will be (hopefully) more motivated to move quickly on the challenge. They won't be lengthy or complicated challenges, just one quick thing you can do that day, and probably they will all come word for word from this book (I hope that isn't breaking any copyrite laws or anything, please don't let me get in trouble!!) So be sure to check the blog every Thursday for your new challenge. You may even find that occasionally the challenge is easy enough that you can make it a part of your life and have some wonderful new habits!! Good Luck Club Zero, we can do this together!!!

btw...I think it is clear from the poll that the majority of you want to report your weight on Mondays. So weigh-in when you choose, just be consistant about it, and we will continue to hear from you on Mondays.
