CHALLENGE THURSDAY

Tip #207

Chew Chew Chew

Take time to chew your food thoroughly and slowly today. When you eat more slowly you actually feel more full faster-while eating less food-which means you eat fewer calories without suffering pangs of hunger. But don't take this overboard and chew your food for hours on end. I'm talking about eating a decent meal in twenty minutes instead of two.
Because eating is so habitual for us, it's easy to read this tip and forget about it five minutes later. I know this because I do it often; I always remember after the meal: "Aghh, I wanted to eat that slowly. Oops." Put something on your wrist or a ring on a different finger to help you remember your goal of the day: eat slowly! To help you follow through with this, try:

-Engaging in conversation while you eat (be attentive)
-Drinking water between every few bites.
-Cutting yur food into smaller bites or taking smaller bites
-Going back and forth between food items (a bite of salad, then a bite of meat, etc.).

I am sure that chewing cinnamon lips 100 times takes all the calories out, right?!?!?!

I have started doing this lately. Another trick that I learned from The Biggest Looser is the 10 min rule. Once you have finished your meal and you still think your hungry, wait 10 min and drink a little water and then see if you are still hungry since it takes that long for your brain to get the signals. It actually works :) I love that this makes me eat less while still eating more ^_^

I found out by doing this challenge that I have another bad habit to break. I got full much faster, but couldn't bear to waste the food I had dished myself so I just continued eating even after I wasn't hungry anymore....that is a big problem. So, in conjunction with this challenge I am going to have to also try to dish smaller portions to begin with.
