On a previous weight loss site I used to post on, the had these things called Non-Scale Victories (or NSVs) The point being that sometimes we get too focued on what the scale says and get discouraged and give up.
So inbetween weigh-ins we shared NSVs things like making good food choices, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or fitting into a pair of pants that we hadn't tried on for awhile, drinking enough water...anything that made us feel victorious along the way.
I thought maybe we could do the same thing here. We all need some positive reinforcement, and sometimes seeing the good things others do inspires us to try them too...so who's with me?
For a few days I'm going to post a NSV post of the day and want EVERYONE to search for something to post that they were successful with that day. We'll see how it goes and I'll either keep up the Daily or we'll just do it occasionally.
So...post something for today (or something from the last few days) and look for something each day and let us know!!

My Late Report
Alfalfa is reporting a +/- 0 for the week. I will do better this week.
I am very happy to see all of the posts today. Let me explain why I feel this way. Being one of the 3 male members of Club Zero I really don't have any recipes to share unless you all wanted to know how to take a frozen pizza out of the box and put it in the oven or how it takes exactly one minute and forty-five seconds to microwave a bag of popcorn at our house. So I really look forward to hearing the suggestions all of you have and the things you are doing to work at this. I was beginning to wonder if our little club was beginning to fizzle out because as the weeks have gone on the posts have become fewer and fewer and it seemed like discouragement was the biggest theme of all the Monday weigh-in posts.
But after today I see that our club really is going strong. Maybe we all are a little discouraged because the weight doesn't seem to be dropping off as fast as we want it to or we don't seem to be accomplishing our goals. But we all really want to succeed at this. Club Zero attire, goals to run half marathons or 5K races help me see that I need to keep trying my best even if I do get a little down on myself. So my goal for the week is this: every night I will post something I have done that day that has helped me. Whether it is what I did to fight off a craving, what I did to exercise, or something I read that inspired me I will take the time to share it with you. We can't do this alone so lets stop focusing on the things we didn't do or the things we shouldn't have done, and start focusing on the little steps we take each day to get us that little bit closer to our goals. Thanks for the uplift today. I will talk to you all tomorrow. ALFALFA

Call for accountability, and some encouragement for all...
There was quite the handful of you that forgot Monday's weigh-in this week. I think that can be blamed on the holiday for sure. I am awful about forgetting everything in my schedule because one thing changed, it's a problem for me. So with understanding for all of you (and knowing that there are other circumstances with a couple of you that has your attention otherwise engaged)...it is time to be accountable....Saints Fan, Battleshiphips, Sassy Girl, Berry Blue, Banana, and Hot Momma, how was your week?
That being said it seems like we could all use a little encouragement. So I am going to share a random thought (from the book as always, someday I may stray from it, but it has such good advice!!) hopefully it will give you a little motivation to get back on track.
Tip #13
There's no rush
Most diet programs come with a time limit. Twelve-week, six-week, thirty-day, ten-day, even twenty-four hour quick-fix programs are rampant in society today. The creators of such popular programs may not intend for it to feel like there's a "time limit." But that's what it feels like to you-the person attempting to lose weight in a specified time period decided upon by a complete stranger. Quick-fix programs train us to completely remodel our health habits in a short period of time-getting our adrenatime pumping and creating that "do it all now" mindset. The immense pressure makes it all too easy to say, "I'm behind. Just forget the whole thing. I can't do this."
Set a goal today to keep doing what I hope you're doing by {being a member of Club Zero}. Take it one day at a time and one step at a time; work on small things that add up to make a big difference. There's no rush. It's not a race. You're working on a permanent shift in how you think, feel, and function in everyday life. It's not going to happen overnight.
That being said I am going to add two cents of my own to this very long post. After doing some thinking about how to remotivate myself (and trying to figure out answers to Club Zero members that have gone unanswered and unhelped) I realized that I have completely lost my one day at a time mentality. I have started thinking a week at a time, from Monday to Monday. This means if I have an awful day on Monday or Tuesday or any other day through the week, I now have "blown it" and just give up until the next Monday when I weigh-in and start the week over frustrated and thinking horrible things like "maybe I won't weigh in this week, what have I committed to!!" Truth be told I am so glad for support that keeps me thinking about it, and I believe that is at least a step (however small) in the right direction. So Club Zero....here is a challenge(yes I know it isn't Thursday)...Day at a time thinking. You can not eat a leftover sugar cookie today. You can workout today. If you eat a whole bag of chips today, let it go, it is just a day and tomorrow will be a new one. I also suggest that workout Wednesday and Challenge Thursday be not only suggestions for that day, but for whenever you can accomplish it. Everyone's schedule is different, but we should all have one day that they can be accomplished in. Don't brush it aside because it is different, or inconvinient or not the way you are used to doing things....just do it for at least one day (more if you like) One step at a time, let's change our lives!!!
...and as a side note, congatulations Alfalfa for your double digit loss, that is no small feat!

Not much progress
Fogarty reports a -.6 and I am reporting 0. To be honest, I am using the crazy scale this week because I have a cold and can't use the accurate one I am used to. It is showing about a -3 total, so I figured 0 is not too far from accurate.
As far as advice goes to all of you who are asking, I think you are being too hard on yourselves. One day, or holiday, is not going to cause significant gains. The body just doesn't work that way. You may have fluctuations from week to week, but don't be too hard on yourself. The biggest enemy to weight loss is discouragement, NOT HOLIDAYS. The goal here, at least for me, is to make a lifestyle change for the better. Controlling the everyday and working to make positive changes is really what this is all about.
I am extending a great job to everyone. Don't get frustrated. Stress can cause not only eating jags, but real chemical changes in the body.
Work hard, be accountable for your intake and output, and overall just make this week better that the last. If that is all you do you will be successful.
GREAT JOB to EVERYONE! We are in this together!

Hi Everyone!!
It's seems like over the last few weeks we have been posting fewer and fewer things on non weigh-in days, so I just wanted to take the time to offer my thanks to Cookie for workout Wed. (I will definitely try to get in the extra work today), and to give my feelings on something I have been thinking about for the last few days.
To me the best part about Club Zero is that it encourages me first of all to make healthy choices with my life. I can already tell I have more energy every day, I feel better about myself, and most importantly my kids see the choices Darla and I are trying to make and they want to be healthy too. The weight loss will come because of this, but we all have to remember it is FAR more important to be physically healthy then it is to weigh whatever our lowest goal weight is. If I had to choose between being around to see my kids get married and have kids of their own or weigh what I did when I graduated from high school I know what I would choose.
So lets all remember that our true long term goal is dong this now so we can continue to enjoy all that life has to offer later. Thanks for letting me get on my soapbox about this. Hope you are all having a great week. ALFALFA

The Little Rascals
Well Alfalfa and Darla here to report in. This was a crazy week for both of us. Alfalfa is quite surprised he gets to report a -1.5. He didn't think he was going to lose any. Darla has a +2 for the week but told me to say she will get back on track reporting her days and hopes this will bring better numbers next week. (We had reason to celebrate this week so Thursday we had a huge takeout meal from Taggart's that included a very large, very yummy piece of chocolate raspberry cheesecake.)
Congratulations to all of us for keeping this up into February now. 80% of the people who resolved to lose weight this year have already quit their diets. Let's keep working together and see where we are 4 weeks from now when March rolls around. Thanks for all the support and inspiration you give us. Alfalfa and Darla

TOOOO SKINNY
Just thought that I would post an opinion. Lately I have been faced everywhere I go with the sight of people that are too thin. Unhealthy thin!!!! I know that a few extra pounds are not good but too thin is worse. It makes you look older and is really not a healthy situation. I have been told by medical doctors that a few extra pounds is better than too thin. If you get ill you have nothing to draw from. I know that most of us are young and working at keeping ourselves healthy, but lets not loose sight of the real purpose here. If you can't have a super bowl party and have a few NON HEALTHY treats, there is something wrong with your thinking. I know that society tells us that thin is beautiful, but not really!!! So from the OLD member of the club, just love who you are. What you look like outside does not make you a different person inside. I know and LOVE most of you in this club, and working together to be healthy is okay, but trying to be thin is not. So as we weigh in this week, remember that you are who you are not what you weigh. I love you all and hope for "confident" weigh in's.

Can't beleave it
I joined a gym today. I have wanted to for a long time but could never see paying that much for a membership. A friend at work found Crossroads Gym in Layton. They haven't opened yet so for the starting members it is only $10 a month. There is no contract so I can stop at any time. I am so excited for it to open on the 2nd. Any one want to join with me? If I get 4 people to sign up I get a free year :) Just thought I would let you all know about the awesome deal.

ps. I am not voting on the day to weigh in on because I really don't care either way. I just think we should pick a day we all have to be responsible for. What is the point of posting your weigh if it was a few days ago. The only thing I care about is that we report the same day we weigh in. There is my 2 cents
Love ya all :)

My plan for the week
Well since I had the ultimate sucky week I want to try something new. I need to report to someone so it makes me think twice about putting something in my mouth. So I am going to report my eating of the day this week and see if it helps me. So here we go. Today this morning I had a bowl of cereal and then went and worked out for about 2 hours (yes I did it I know it is amazing) Then for lunch I had a turkey subway with fat free honey mustard a water and half a bag of baked lays. Then I had 1/2 a twix bar and a piece of cornbread. Then for dinner I had stir fry on whole wheat noodles. I am hoping to get a workout in tonight and if I can't get a workout I know I will be bouncing ALOT!!! I know no one really wants to know my goings on but I had such a frustrating week and I couldn't stop eating so I think if I have to report maybe I will see some negative numbers come next week.
Thanks for the support

A little "light" reading
I re-read a great article last night and thought about club zero. Since I knew our members would all enjoy an ensign article related to what we are all working towards here is a link.

I hope you find as much help in it as I did. Totally positive. Very uplifting. Enjoy!!!
Congrats to everyone on your success last week. Good Luck on week 2.

Confession
I have been having a hard time getting my exercising in the last couple days. Yesterday, we had friends over. They were here when I got home from work and left late so...no exercise.(which means I didn't reach my goal of exercise 6 days a week since I don't like working out on sunday) Then there is today. The day started with me going to the dentist and being there for 4 hours. Yes I said 4 HOURS. That is what happens when you have 2 root canals done :) Then I had a meeting with my husband and his new boss. I just don't feel good. I mostly blame it on the gas they gave me at the dentist (that always makes me feel like crap) or it could be the fact that I didn't eat anything all day until like 5:30 or so today because of the dentist. Feeling like this dosen't make me feel like working out at all. I did manage 30min (15 on my treadmill and 15 on my ball). I hope I feel better tomorrow so I can get back on track. Sorry guys. I do have to say that I like Club Zero because it makes me want to do things like work out when I don't feel good because I have someone to answer to ^_^

It's working
So yesterday I went to mutual and they were having chili, and hot chocolate. I very much wanted to eat a second bowl of chili and unlimited hot chocolate because it was so stinkin' cold outside, but remebering that I would have to face that at weigh-in made it much eaisier to say no. Also when I got home I still hadn't worked out and knowing I would have to admit I hadn't made my 1 little goal this week didn't sound very fun either, so I laced on my tennis shoes and hopped on the treadmill. Thanks for motivating me Team Zero, I couldn't have done it without you!!
