I will report in. I am still losing the quick weight gain from the thyroid explosion. 2 pounds this week but still not down to where I was when I quit reporting. Another few pounds and they will count Cookie, but not for now. Considering all I did was not worry about weighing, it tells me two things, one it was my thyroid and second stress about weight is not worth the effort!!!! Eat right and move a little more and things work out.

Doing OK

Just here to report a -2 for the week. WAHOO!!! I am hoping it keeps going down. I didn't really exersize except I must have burried some pounds in the garden along with all the vegies:) Wherever it went I am happy it is gone.
Darla

Me too

I am also reporting a +1 for the week....I haven't been working out every morning like I was and I find that doesn't help me want to eat well. I have been working outside enough though that a whole new group of muscles is screaming at me to stop, so I guess I can count that for something. -Cookie

My turn

Worked every day this week + Exercised once + Partook freely of the holiday festivities= a plus 1 for me this week. Oh well, having fun with family and eating some really good food at the same time was totally worth the 16 oz. Happy Memorial Day everyone. ALFALFA
Thunder Buns is reporting a -1 for this week and Rex is reporting a 0. I am going to think positive. 1 is not a lot but if I continue to loose 1 pound a week after 20 weeks that adds up!!! :) Good luck to everyone and Happy Memorial Day!!!!
I am reporting a -.5 for the week. I guess it is a good time to start at 0 :) Hope everyone has a great holiday

NSV celebration

I am so excited! Today I wore some carpi's that about a month ago when we went to St. George wouldn't even button up. I have been wearing them all day. To the zoo, visiting teaching and they are still comfortable! YEAH!!! I know my new shirt that is loose around the middle helps, but nothing is better than wearing your skinny pants!
Zody
P.S. Cookie my sidebar number is 2 pounds lower than it should be.

Sometimes You Just Gotta Laugh.....

So I just needed to laugh a little about my weight loss adventures..... most of all because sometimes that is just all you can do. This posting might be a little embarrassing for you male club zero members so you can read.......... IF YOU DARE!!!!

Here is a little something to make you laugh. Yesterday I went to my favorite spot to run, Beaver Lake Trail. It is absolutely gorgeous. It is a trail that goes right through the jungle we have here in Alabama and it really is so pretty. Let me start out this story letting you know that I purchased a wonderful new sports bra that zips right up the front. I thought to myself, "zip up the front????" But just as quickly as that thought came to me I could literally picture myself twisting and contorting my body to get into my other sports bra so I think to myself this might be great!!!!

Anyway - Back to Beaver Trail. I am having a great time running it is a beautiful day and I'm loving that I escaped my house full of one million kids. All of a sudden I am struck by a gust of wind...... or so I think......... Not used to my new zip up nifty sports bra I'm thinking to myself, "My goodness something feels a little different." You would think that I would have stopped to investigate the problem - nope - I'm in the zone. Finally I go to adjust the wires to my IPod and realize my zipper is unzipped - yep all the way unzipped. So what is a girl to do??? I quickly weigh my options. #1 hurry and zip it up and hope hope hope no one sees me or #2 step off the trail into the woods filled with poisonous snakes and armadillos just to ensure no one sees me..... I opted for choice #1!!!

So I'm thinking that sometimes amidst this quest to healthiness you just have to laugh a little and realize - it's gotta be fun sometimes - sometimes things work just like you want them too and sometimes they don't. Sometimes your bra stays zipped sometimes it doesn't..... but it's all ok!!!! :)

-ThunderBuns
***Disclaimer*** Darla was worried I may not have had another shirt on and let me just tell you..... OF COURSE I DID!!!! I am a modest runner :)

Cookie's late report.

0. Not too bad for an oreo snack attack, and a trip to Utah (including a #6 at Wendy's on the way...how I love me a spicy chicken with fries and rootbeer) and more macaroni shrimp salad than I care to admit. I really haven't fallen off the bandwagon, I just took a small detour!!

Sorry so late

I tried to stay off my computer yesterday in hopes of finally getting some housework done, but forgot to check in.
I get a -2 for this week. The excercising is going better. It always feels so good afterwards, it's strange that it takes so much motivation to get out the door. I have noticed a real lag in my water intake, so that is my "diet" focus for the week. Yeah for the negetive!

YIKES!!!!

Not a good week for me +1 for last week, but this week Brian and I started P90X this morning, whoa am I going to be sore, so this week better be better than last!!

The Biggest Loser
I have a -3 to post for this week. I would be more excited if it wasn't the same three pounds that I gained last week. Oh well, I hope everyone is doing awesome, good luck this week!

Back to Work

Things are getting better here. It usually takes about 3 or 4 weeks for my thyroid to get back to normal, but no weight gain this week so we will go back to work and see if the negative can kick in. However it is just good to FEEL BETTER. So I will claim a zero but boast about feeling better!!!!!

Poppy
Down 2 for me this week...and I had a huge NSV...I was wanting a cool treat when I left town this afternoon...and I actually had a toll house cookie ice cream sandwich in my hand and PUT IT DOWN and picked up a Dryers stawberry all fruit frozen bar instead (these really are my favorite!!) 120 calories 0 fat cooled me off and was SOOO yummy :)

-Hot momma
I'm kinda disappointed with my - 1 this week. My body is being EXTREMELY stubborn. Oh well, I am going to keep plugging away working just as hard. I do feel like I am making progress though - I'm running faster and longer and that makes me happy!!! Good luck to everyone!!!

- Thunderbuns
It seems like no one wants to post today :) I am reporting a 0 for the week. It is really frustrating because I am not trying to matain. I have been going to a nutritionist, and she told me what my ideal weight could be. it is about 10lbs from where I am at now. The last time I went to her, however I had lost an inch and a half from my hip mesurment and an inch from my waist. I guess it is the inches that really count. The weight will come off in time :)
-Razzle

Lets get started!!!

Well Alfalfa and Darla had a much better week this week. We both got to go out and get some exersize. Darla is reporting a -2 and Alfalfa is reporting a -3 WAHOO!!!! MUCH BETTER!!! We both really feel like we are going to start a new trend in a negative direction :)
Darla and Alfalfa

PS This is Alfalfa now, I just had to add a thought on to our post for the week. Sorry to those of you who were looking forward to pictures of me eating my gallon of ice cream and Double Stuff Oreos, but I think I figured out why I wasn't losing weight until this past week even though I was exercising.
There was alot of debate this past week about whether it was better to eat when you are hungry or to eat regular meals. For me now the answer is emphatically eating regular meals. The first two weeks I started to exercise regularly, I was also skipping breakfast most of those days. I would drink alot of water thinking I could fool my body into thinking it was full. So instead of seeing the benefits of my exercise my body went into protective mode and I gained a pound in those two weeks.
This past week the ONLY thing I did differently then the previous two weeks was I ate breakfast every morning (along with lunch and dinner) and I lost 3 pounds. I am totally convinced now about the importance of not starving yourself to diet and for me to eat three regular meals a day. Sorry to be so long-winded but it has helped me to learn this and maybe it can help someone else too.

Just some tips

We found this and I thought it was some great ideas. I hope you all like it.
1. Evaluate your eating habits. Are you eating late at night, nibbling while cooking, finishing the kids' meals? Take a look around, and it will be easy to identify a few behaviors you can change that will add up to big calorie savings.
2. If you fail to plan, plan to fail. You need a strategy for your meals and snacks. Pack healthful snacks for the times of day that you know you are typically hungry and can easily stray from your eating plan.
3. Always shop with a full belly. It's a recipe for disaster to go into the grocery store when you are hungry. Shop from a prepared list so impulse buying is kept to a minimum. Eating right starts with stocking healthy food in your pantry and refrigerator.
4. Eat regular meals. Figure out the frequency of your meals that works best in your life and stick to it. Regular meals help prevent bingeing.
5. Eat your food sitting down at a table, and from a plate. Food eaten out of packages and while standing is forgettable. You can wind up eating lots more than if you sit down and consciously enjoy your meals.
6. Serve food onto individual plates, and leave the extras back at the stove. Bowls of food on the table beg to be eaten, and it takes incredible will power not to dig in for seconds. Remember, it takes about 20 minutes for your mind to get the signal from your belly that you are full.
7. Eat slowly, chew every bite, and savor the taste of the food. Try resting your fork between bites and drinking plenty of water with your meals.
8. Don't eat after dinner. This is where lots of folks pack on the extra pounds. If you are hungry, try satisfying your urge with a non-caloric beverage or a piece of hard candy. Brushing your teeth after dinner helps reduce the temptation to eat again.
9. If you snack during the day, treat the snack like a mini-meal. The most nutritious snacks contain complex carbohydrates and a small amount of protein and fat.
10. Start your day with breakfast. It is the most important meal of the day. After a long night's rest, your body needs the fuel to get your metabolism going and give you energy for the rest of the day.

Accountability

I know I am late with weigh in, but frustration set in. I know my week wasn't great, but it wasn't +4 bad!!! Crazy I know, but I am going to throw my focus in another direction. I have decided to run a 10k. It's a step up from my 5k last year and should help me focus on exercise more. Hopefully the rest will take care of itself. I will take the +4, but watch out I am getting serious!
Zody

I need advice...

So, yesterday I had a horrible day (calorie intake wise) really my day wasn't bad just my eating. I decided to just shrug it off as a bad day and start again today. Well, my morning got busy and then I went and got my hair done, and then went to speech and then it was dinner time and I realized I hadn't eaten at all yet today. And I really wasn't that hungry, but knew I obviously needed to eat something. So I had dinner and am just wondering if that is normal, like, do calories hang in there, filling you up even the next day?? Or was I just crazy or too busy to notice if I was hungry???
-a very confused Cookie who has never not been hungry unless sick.

I don't feel so bad now...

I guess most of us had the same type of week. I worked hard again this past week and although I didn't lose anything, I didn't gain anything either. I am still kind of frustrated about the whole thing, but here are a couple of things that have helped me.
I didn't take any measurements like Thunderbuns did, but I do feel a difference in how my clothes are fitting me so hopefully that will continue.
The exercise has helped me have more energy for the day, and my stamina while I am exercising is increasing. (I could maybe even finish a 1K now ;) ).
A fellow Club Zero member told me their doctor mentioned that sometimes when a person starts an exercise regimen it takes several weeks for the weight loss to follow. I sure hope this is true because if I work this hard again for a third straight week and don't see some results on the scale I may just curl up in the fetal position with a gallon of ice cream and some Double Stuff Oreos and eat/cry myself to sleep :)
I hope we all continue to work hard again this week. Healthy first, skinny later. ALFALFA
With my new work schedule I have been able to work out twice a day, but for some reason my body is just as stubborn as I am and I gained 3 pounds. I have cut back on calories so I really shouldn't have a plus three, but with all the extra workouts I have been drinking tons of water. I sure hope it's water weight. Oh well, maybe next week I will show a decrease instead of an increase.

Rex

Finally!!!

So, I have had something snap inside of me, and that superglue I have needed to make the motivation stick seems to have come. (I am hoping it stays around a while!!) After weeks and weeks of positive reports or 0's I get to report a -2. 24 points per day(with a few exceptions) and working out 5 days a week for 30-60 minutes is finally paying off.....yeah!!!
-Cookie

Please No Weigh today.

I hope everyone will be patient with me. Thyroid medicine has been changed and in a couple of weeks things should be backe to normal. (I hope better) So I am begging a no weigh week. Next week we will try again. Thanks for being considerate of the OLD person!!!!!

Poppy

Well...

I tried to be good. I didn't exersize as much as I should but I still stayed with in my calorie intake most of the days. I am at a +1 for the week. I am not excited about that at all :(
-Razzle

I guess I am glad it isn't only me :(

I am seriously wondering what the heck is wrong with me too. I am a +4 ARRRRRGGGGGG!!! It is so frustrating. I didn't work out as much as Alfalfa this week but I did work out and it seems to make the scale go the wrong way. Well I guess I just have to work a little harder at my eating habits and not be so stressed out all the time. Better luck to everyone else.
Darla

Seriously...what is wrong with me

I didn't really expect a loss this week and feared a gain (starting saturday, I could feel my ankles and hands were way swollen) along with other things going on...I really feel I am still having post baby issues, but seriously, I gained 6 lbs this week!!! No wonder I've been feeling like crap. Oh well...just keep plugging along I guess. (why did I go back to ZERO so soon!!!!!!!)

I guess on the good side my son had the "best birthday ever" and I had a fabulous mother's day, and my arms and face got a little sun this week!!

-hot momma (who really just feels squishy and puffy)
So this week I'm in Alfalfa's shoes. Worked my tail off and am seeing a 0 this week. UGH!!!!! I did take my measurements last week and I lost an inch off my thighs. So .... I guess that is good. I don't know why this happened - very frustrating. Oh well........ better luck this week.

I really am alive...

I just have been computerless for like a week. I am reporting a zero. Oh well, maybe next week. I have been trying really hard this week with WW points and daily workouts, and it is Thursday and I am still on track, so hopefully on Monday I will have good progress to report.

Thyriod Mania

I guess that I am glad to know that there might be a reason for no weight loss when I have really been trying. Last week my thyroid doctor said that he thought a lot of the things that were going on were because my thyroid was out of wack. In ways I hope and in other I hope not. I really don't want to go down that road again. But for now until we find out for sure I hope to be able to just stay even. So don't count me out. I will return better than before. This week I claim a 0.

Poppy

@#&$^%!

Well more profanity from the Little Rascalls this week :) And I exersized this week too. Alfalfa was so nice and let me go for a walk a few times this week. But unfortunatley I am a +2 this week. I am going to make some changes this week and hopefully it all works out for both of us and you won't have to see any more profanity from us :)

Darla

Monday, May 4, 2009

Wahoo!

I get a -3 this week. It actually counts for two. I didn't get a chance to weigh in last week. We had just come back from vacation and I couldn't get to the scale. (it's currently at Poppy's house until I get my own). I am excited and feel like I have turned a corner in my attitude toward food and excercise. I WANT to eat right and exercise, amazing I know! I may turn back and any time, so I will enjoy it while it lasts! We will keep hoping for good numbers, but I am trying to not focus on those too much.
Fogarty hasn't weighed in for a while. I'm working on him;)
Zody

@&%!!#*#@!

This past week made me so frustrated. Throughout this entire journey on weeks when I gained weight or didn't lose any there was always something I knew I did or could have done better: didn't exercise, ate out several times, snacked too much, etc. This week there was none of that. I really tried to watch what I ate, and by Thursday I had exercised 4 times. (I have started running/walking a few miles for an exercise routine.)
So Friday I decided to get an early look at the scale because I felt I had been really good and I wanted to see a good number. So I step on the scale and I had gained 4 FREAKING POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Total frustration set in.
I didn't exercise Friday or Saturday because of bad weather and work plus I went to a family party Saturday night and a baby blessing/dinner on Sunday. Needless to say I was not looking forward to the scale today. I tried to be good at the parties, but without any exercise I figured the number would not be good.
So today I get on the scale and I had lost 3 of those 4 pounds. So you tell me... should I be excited about only gaining 1 pound, or frustrated about gaining 4 pounds when I work out, and losing 3 when I don't do anything? Right now I am completely confused and wonder if there is something I need to do differently or if I just chalk it up to one of those weeks. I am open to all advice fellow Club Zero members. My +1 WILL NOT be there next week. ALFALFA

PS- Darla forgot to weigh in this morning and will post tomorrow.
I would love to report a -2 this week, which really surprises me! I had a crappy eat for all this weekend. I have got to get control of my weekends!!

The Biggest Loser
So Thunderbuns is at a 0 this week. With some minor health issues making workouts almost impossible I am actually glad that I did not gain anything. So hopefully soon I will be back to my old self and able to keep up what I started.

PS ---- Hot Mama this is your new theme song.........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xgj5PyVw_gc Just please don't do your hair like hers.......... atleast not while I'm not there to see your mothers reaction. :O)

new week new attitude...

anyone else ALWAYS have the drive to be better on monday just to lose it by oh...Wednesday :) Well this week I'm going to try to have that drive all week...I'm going to drown myself in water, cut down on the junk, up my veggie/fruit intake, and exercise more (oh and motivate myself on tuesday by watching the biggest loser :) oh...and I'm down 1 lb this week :)

-hot momma

Guess I'll be the first

I am reporting a 0 for the week. I had a bad weekend with a wedding, a friends birthday, and a baby blessing. It is harder to control your calorie intake with a weekend like that :) Things will look up for next week.
