Workout Wednesday/Challenge Thursday

Sorry I dropped the ball Club Zero. Apparently if my kids don't go to school on Monday than it isn't actually Monday, it is a non-day and Tuesday becomes Monday, in which case, today is actually Wednesday. I don't know why one stinkin holiday can throw off my week so much, but it did, and I missed it, so today, you get two things, a workout, and a challenge. DO THEM!!

Tip #28

Smart TV time

The Bureau of Labor Statistics' 2003 American Time Use Survey found that the average American spends 2.57 hours per day watching televison. Even more remarkable is the fact that 79 percent of Americans reported watching TV as a "primary activity on any given day"-second only to eating and sleeping. To top it off, national statistics show that 68 percent of us fail to get enough physical activity.
Today I recommend that you exercise while you watch TV - even if it's only for ten minutes! If your're embarrassed or need more space, send your spouse or children to another room. Do whatever you need to do. You'll burn calories, get your heart pumping, and, even better, you'll learn how easy it is to add physical activity into an already busy day.
Here are some activities that work well for TV time:
-march in place at a quick, steady pace
-jog in place
-jump rope
-do jumping jacks
-do knee lifts (raise your hands over your head, then lift you knee to about belly button height and bring your hands down and tap the knee that is lifted.)

and here is your Challenge...

Tip #251

Butter-less

Don't add butter or margarine to any foods today. Skip the butter on cooked or steamed veggies, mashed potatoes, toast and bread, and other main dishes or side items. Instead of laying on a thick coat of butter, use a small amount of Mrs. Dash for vegetables, and use jam for breads or eat them plain.
You'll save about 100 calories and 8 grams of fat per serving when you cut the butter from these commonly buttered up foods. That's significant-and a definite plus for your health.

Good luck Club Zero, let's hear how it goes.

I did the no butter thing which is actually easy for me because I don't ususaly do that anyway. But Alfalfa on the other hand doesn't but he didn't put butter on his biscuit tonight so BRAVO to him :) I haven't watched any tv today except while nursing so I will work on that over the weekend.

I have to agree with Darla almost completely. I watched no TV yesterday, but will remember to workout during TV time the next time I do. I also don't butter things much anyways, but garlic bread would have gone great with last nights dinner, and I didn't make it, because if that dosen't count as buttered bread, I don't know what does.

Like Darla and Cookie, I don't butter things usually anyway. I think things actually taste better with out it. I do, however, need to get better at the exercising while watching TV all the time. I did once(this was planned) for 3 hours while I was waiting for Zach to come home from work. I walked on my treadmill and according to it I lost over 1500 calories. Since I have a treadmill at my house I will try even harder at that.
